I like to think I was born an artist. I was the bucktoothed, foot-above-the-rest-of-'em whom all my classmates cheated off of in art class. (If cheating in art class is even possible...) Let me tell you, I could draw one mean horse. And as the gap between my teeth grew smaller and smaller, and my peers finally caught up to my awkward height, I immersed myself in every form of creative expression imaginable. Painting. Interior design. Singing. Acting. Wampum belt making. (No, really.) Everything but photography. For whatever reason, I was never the girl who fell in love with the 35mm her crazy uncle gave her for Christmas. And I never spent hours on end in the darkroom. It wasn't until college, that photography found me. Yes, I like to think photography found me, and not the other way around... While I still sing Broadway show tunes in my shower and rearrange our living room 10 times more than any ordinary person, my greatest passion hinges on sweet buttery light, shallow depth of field, and freezing real moments with my camera.
My job allows me to meet all sorts of fabulous couples with unique stories, styles, and visions for their wedding day. To be able to share in their experience and capture their love is the icing on the cake. (Carrot cake, if it were up to me.) Without fail, each and every bride and groom I work with leaves me with a greater appreciation for what I do. Not to mention a greater love for Dylan: my business partner; my confidant; my ultimate support; and my sweet, sweet husband. I am a better photographer because of him. (And I think that may have been the only time in my entire life I've used a semi-colon correctly. I think...)
