Tidbit Tuesday #129

If you haven’t already heard, Dylan and I are brand new homeowners! You know all that secrecy and contained excitement I’ve been hinting at? Well, this is it! We are so much in love with our new place. And the fact that it’s OURS. We – meaning, I – can do whatever we want to it! And while the house is perfectly beautiful and ready to live in as-is, I still have a long list of Pinterest-inspired projects to make it completely our own. Like this, and this, and especially this! Get ready for a new blog category, friends! And a full post of pictures once we’re settled. :)

P.S. about the house… I am a MASTER at creating perfectly even paint lines. The trick, which is something I literally learned two days ago, is to pull off the tape immediately after painting! And all this time, I thought you had to let the paint DRY first. I’ve spent the last couple days painting my office a shade of gray called Dolphin Fin (by Behr), and my trim/wall paint lines are looking fabulously perfect. The only complaint I have about our house is that the mouldings are an off-white/creamish color that isn’t as easy to coordinate as one might think. I’m not sure how I’m digging this gray, but I have a feeling that once everything is in place, I’ll LOVE it!!

My biggest love language (beyond receiving copious amounts of ice cream by surprise) is words of affirmation. So imagine how loved I felt when Dylan and I were driving in the car, I said something hysterically awesome, and then Dylan said, “You are the funniest person I’ve ever met…” SO matter-of-factly too! Like, for real. I, Alyse French, am the FUNNIEST person he’s EVER met. I can assure you, this was the best compliment I’ve ever received. And I can promise you that I will find ways to remind him of this truth as often as possible. ;)

I MUST tell you. We’re proud new members of Costco! Our first trip yielded 100 Charms blow pops and 12 bottles of IZZE soda that are currently all but gone. (The soda, not the blow pops.) I convinced Dylan that blow pops are actually great for dieting. You can satisfy your sweet tooth for just 80 calories. And a tenth of a cavity.

Song of the Week: Wide Awake by Katy Perry. Okay, okay… I’m still slightly bitter about Katy’s selling out. (She was ONCE known as Katy Hudson in the Christian music industry and she was freaking phenomenal! I even sang her song Last Call as my voicemail recording once upon a time.) But this song is just SO catchy. Listen HERE!

Next week, I’ll be blogging the wedding of our beautiful friends Aly and Marc. But until then, here is an Instagram collage of all things new house! I am currently sort of obsessed. Please forgive me… :)

Happy Tuesday!! :)
