1 For Me // 1 For You | September 2011

How is it September 2011 already? AKA, ONE full year after our first-ever 1 For Me // 1 For You?! In honor of such an anniversary, we wanted to give away something unlike anything we’ve ever given away before. Something actually related to photography, if you can imagine that… ;) This month, we’re giving away one 12″x18″ metallic photographic canvas gallery wrap with matte lamination of any high-resolution image of your choosing (provided that you own the file)! Produced by the same super awesome lab that we use for our super awesome clients, your canvas wrap will be made with real wood at a 1.5″ mounting depth. You’ll also have your choice of hanging hardware, be it sawtooth hangers and bumpers with paper backing, or wire hanger and bumpers without paper backing. I’m totally in LOVE with my new canvas, but before we get to all that fun stuff, let’s take a minute to remember how 1 For Me // 1 For You works! :)

  • What is it? It’s simple! If I have one of something that I find functional, fashionable, or just plain fun, I send the winner a duplicate!
  • Who can enter? Pretty much anyone and everyone. Whether you’re a friend, client, past client, future client, or random reader, don’t be shy! (Please see the not-so-fine print below for full rules and restrictions!)
  • How long do I have to enter? You’ll have until next Saturday, September 17th at midnight CST to enter. The winner will be chosen at random using the random number generator at Random.org and announced the next morning, Sunday, September 18th.
  • Yay! How do I get my shot at winning? You must comment (and answer the specific question asked at the end of the post) on this 1 For Me // 1 For You post to enter. Comments left via FacebookTwitter or elsewhere will not be taken into consideration.
  • But why? Because it’s the birthday of 1 For Me // 1 For You, and we want to give away something awesome!!

Without further ado, please meet the newest addition to our family. :) This 12″x18″ canvas depicts the moment RIGHT before walking down the aisle on our wedding day, taken by the insanely talented and beautiful Mabyn Ludke. It’s a moment I never want to forget… And now it will be even harder to!

I just love how the metallic matte finish adds such vibrancy to the image. And sawtooth hangers, bumpers, and paper backing were the way to go for us!!

And there you go! Mine. And yours. Which of course, is currently imaginary. :)

Question to enter: If chosen as the winner, what picture would you want made into a canvas, and why?

Not-so-fine print: Only one entry allowed per person. All contestants must live within the continental United States and must be able to provide a valid mailing address upon winning. I am not responsible for items that are lost, stolen or damaged during shipment. The winner will have 24 hours to contact me and redeem the item or a new winner will be chosen.

Heather Conners - I think I would want a vintage photo of my beautiful mother who was a fashion model in the early 1950’s. Which photo?….not sure. the modeling ones are over 60 years old. Are copyrights still in effect?

  • September 11, 2011 - 11:14 AM

Dana - I would like a picture from my wedding day! It was such a perfectly magical time and I love having pictures around my house reminding of it!

  • September 11, 2011 - 11:15 AM

Amy Chandler - I would choose one of our bride/groom pictures to put on a canvas! Alyse did such an AWESOME job on EVERY one of our pictures, so it would be hard to choose just one! One of my favorites is of me sitting on a park bench looking back at my husband, and he is looking at me. We just look so happy and in love! :)

  • September 11, 2011 - 11:29 AM

Elaine Spaeth - I would probably choose one of our fabulous engagement photos shot on South Congress in Austin, TX. The one I have in mind so perfectly captures Chris and my relationship with the expressions on our face! As well as represents the city in which we fell in love. =)

  • September 11, 2011 - 11:31 AM

Cesilia - Without a doubt, it would have to be the last picture I took of my late mother with my son on his first birthday party. After a long day at play he was exhausted and fell asleep in my mothers arms as she sat in a living room chair. She passed 5 months later.

  • September 11, 2011 - 11:31 AM

BrandiLee Schafran - Hi Alyse! I just saw this give-away on your fb and came on ova to the blog to read all about it! I’m really hoping I win b/c I absolutely, hands-down KNOW which photo I would have made into canvas. It is a B&W photo of my little Gman when he was just a few days old in the NICU. I was holding him in my arms and Dan snapped a picture of his cute little face just as he was giving us the cutest little smile :) Everyone, including Dan and I fell in love with the photo and it serves as a great reminder to me. That despite all that he was going through (long story), God still gave us a glimpse of what we now know is his beautiful and joyful personality! I’ve wanted to blow this photo up but keep being too busy to remember. It will hang smack dab in the middle of the wall at the end of our hallway.
Keep up the AMAZING work! God has truly blessed you with the gift of capturing life’s precious moments.

pam - My photo would have to be my son or one of me & the hubs on the day Micah was born.

    Or maybe even this one…

  • September 11, 2011 - 12:54 PM

Sarah Korzun - Definitely one of the pictures I took while I was abroad in Europe, so many gorgeous shots. My favorite at the moment is one I took in Dorset, England- beautiful country land and breathtaking view of the cliffs looking over the ocean.

  • September 11, 2011 - 1:08 PM

Erin Haase - I don’t have it yet! I’m getting married Oct 1st and would pick one from that day! Can’t wait!

  • September 11, 2011 - 1:31 PM

  • September 11, 2011 - 1:36 PM

Alison - Definitely a picture from our first look, best moment of the day and one that I will never forget

  • September 11, 2011 - 1:40 PM

Erin - well, i agree with my mother (heather conners) probably a modeling photo of my amazing gramma, or one of our wedding, or our amazing trip to Italy. all great memories

  • September 11, 2011 - 1:48 PM

Meghan Stang - A picture from my college graduation!

  • September 11, 2011 - 1:53 PM

Emily Jobson - This is great! I’d probably have to pick one of the shots we took during our recent cruise- so many great pictures and memories!!

  • September 11, 2011 - 3:59 PM

Misty Crosby - Not sure what picture I would like to have made into a canvas yet, my daughter is to marry in March and I know it will be hard to choose a favorite.

  • September 11, 2011 - 4:31 PM

Randi-Michelle - I love you, I love you, I love you. I would choose our penultimate ceremony picture – which YOU took, btw. For me, it’s the epitome of our wedding day and I think it would look great on a canvas!

  • September 11, 2011 - 4:53 PM

Brittany Nissley - If I could choose any picture I would choose the photo of my Grandpa and me. He passed away when I was little and I miss him everyday of my life.

  • September 11, 2011 - 4:54 PM

Cari Hoffman - Awe! That is sooooo nice and elegant! I will probably choose a future picture. I am going to Lima Peru for a mission trip in December and I would love to have a picture blown up like that to remember on a daily basis of how blessed I am to live in the U.S.

  • September 11, 2011 - 7:05 PM

Kira - I would pick a picture of when my fiance proposed to me dressed up as our school’s mascot

  • September 11, 2011 - 9:19 PM

Aimee - Your picture is beautiful! I would choose a picture from my families visit to France while I was studying abroad. It was such fun and fulfilled one of my mom’s dreams!

  • September 11, 2011 - 9:26 PM

Lindsay - Love your canvas – one beautiful pic for a beautiful bride. I’d say…I’d choose one of the photos from our wedding in 40 days! :)

  • September 11, 2011 - 9:30 PM

Jess S - So many choices! I would probably pick one from our recent vacation to California. But there are so many other good ones!

  • September 11, 2011 - 9:58 PM

Jen - Random reader here – just found your blog and am loving your beautiful work. I’ll pick the mythical beautiful, sharp, picture of my family of 5. I guess I’ll have to contact you about a lifestyle session since we haven’t had family portraits since before my youngest was born 2 years ago!

  • September 11, 2011 - 10:41 PM

Imani - I would probably pick a photo of my mom, my sister and I! Or a photo that I’ve taken that I’m proud of.. so it’s a constant reminder to keep pursuing photography! :)

  • September 12, 2011 - 1:03 AM

Jesslyn Amber - I would love to have a picture of my and my boyfriend or my sweet little puppy dog! :)

  • September 12, 2011 - 7:28 AM

Patricia Williams - I have a pix of my two adorable children that would be perfect for this! They are growing up way too fast!

  • September 12, 2011 - 8:30 AM

Heather - It would probably be of me and my future husband taken at our wedding next month! I would LOVE to win this canvas!!!

  • September 12, 2011 - 12:16 PM

Danielle Nurenberg - I would want a picture from my upcoming wedding day made into a canvas. I think it would be the perfect way to capture a favorite memory of the day in a special way.

  • September 12, 2011 - 12:22 PM

Heidi Ann - There is this one shot that I took early in the spring of some beautiful blossoms on a tree. And of the hundreds of photos I’ve taken since getting my camera, I always come back to that one.

  • September 12, 2011 - 12:54 PM

Noël - I am in the background of that photo

  • September 12, 2011 - 1:43 PM

Lacey Rabalais - We recently lost (had to put down) one of our dogs. Luckily, the day before we had family pictures taken. My husband, me, and our 3 dogs. I love the images, the memories, the feelings from the shoot. I’d use one of the images from that snoot for my canvas.

  • September 12, 2011 - 3:01 PM

Lauren Jolly - If I were to win this awesome giveaway, I would probably frame a photo that I took of my younger brother catching snowflakes on his tongue. It was taken probably 6 or 7 years ago (now that I think about it, I probably don’t have a digital file of it but…), and as cheesy as it sounds, it reminds me of his (and everyone’s) innocence. I am fascinated by the way children look at the world. I guess we all have to grow up sometime, but it would make me so happy to have a constant reminder that we don’t always have to be “grownups.”

  • September 13, 2011 - 9:39 AM

Jennifer Coupe - If I won this contest, I would want a picture of my family and my fiance’s from our wedding day. My family will be traveling from Japan with my 90 year old grandmother. To have her forever captured in such a special moment would mean the world to me. She has only been to the States once 20 years ago when I was 6. She is the only grandparent I have and for her to be in a picture with my new family would be the only wedding gift I would want.

  • September 13, 2011 - 10:22 AM

Michael - I have a picture taken at Taste of Texas in Houston of both my family and the family of my fiancee meeting for the first time. It was a special moment for us, especially given the different backgrounds that each of us come from. It is amazing to see different cultures and backgrounds all joining together for an hour having never met. Plus, the picture was a great way to end the conversation over who was going to foot the bill.

  • September 13, 2011 - 10:27 AM

Kata - I have been wanting to do this ever since you sent us our amazing wedding photos! I would probably have to choose one of our bride and groom portraits… You did such an incredible job!

  • September 13, 2011 - 10:28 AM

Jill Bogli - I would frame the first ever smile we caught of Shawn on photo. So precious. And a very adorable reminder that the little things were once the big things.

  • September 13, 2011 - 12:29 PM

Taylor - There is a beautiful picture a friend took of me next to onondaga lake. Tres perfect!

  • September 14, 2011 - 8:46 AM

Mabyn - *sigh* I love that shot! It looks great as a canvas! xoxoxox <3

  • September 14, 2011 - 9:00 AM

kate - whoa. baby. that is such a cool thing. choosing an image though:: exceptionally hard. either a) a group shot of friends or family or both. or b) some beautiful sunny happy pretty detail or flower shot of yours. I think having the picture be of good quality and high resolution and clearness (please excuse my lack or incorrect use of technical terms hahah :)) would be insanely important yeah?

  • September 14, 2011 - 9:32 AM

Toni - I would choose a photo of my boys to be put onto canvas. I never knew I wanted little boys until I got my first little boy. :) My sons are my world.

  • September 14, 2011 - 4:33 PM

Kathy MacMillan - I would give the canvas to the mother of fallen marine Ryan A Miller of Pearland and let her choose a picture of her son. Ryan was only 19 when he was killed five years ago today in Iraq while on combat duty. He had been scheduled to return home in just two weeks. My son, Ben MacMillan, grew up playing baseball with him at the local little league field. I do not know the family all that well, but as a mother myself, I cannot imagine the loss of a child. RIP Ryan. http://www.iraqwarheroes.org/millerra.htm

  • September 15, 2011 - 11:05 AM

Taylor deClercq - I would choose a picture of our little family from last winter. It is the most adorable picture of my son (then 2yrs) with the 3 of us in the background. Taken by the lovely and talented StephanieRaye Photography.

  • September 15, 2011 - 7:25 PM

Jenn - My boyfriend of 10 years just proposed to me on our vacation in Key Largo! While we were there, I got an amazing picture of the two of us in a hammock together. I would love to get it printed off on a canvas. p.s….I do love that picture of you on your wedding day.

  • September 16, 2011 - 10:48 AM

Carrie Stiles - That picture is just amazing! I would choose a picture with me & my parents. They are the most important people in my life and I could capture a moment with them and have it forever.

  • September 16, 2011 - 11:46 AM

Becca - I would want a picture of our sweet German Shepard Lucy. Sadly, she passed away a couple of weeks ago and we do miss her so much. She was the most beautiful and loving pup we could have ever asked for!!

  • September 17, 2011 - 2:01 AM

Megan - What a beautiful image. I love the anticipation that one feels. If I had to pick a picture…it would probably be a shot I took in Scotland last year when I was traveling. The sun had just risen over the castle on the hill and there was fresh snow on the ground. I close my eyes and I’m back there.

  • September 17, 2011 - 10:34 PM

Adrienne - I would choose a picture of my mom and dad on their wedding day. It’s when they’re walking back down the aisle and my dad is looking at my mom with a huge smile on his face. It’s beautiful.

  • September 19, 2011 - 9:32 AM

Aimee - Hi Alyse! I would love to know where I could get this done. Would love to do this as a birthday or Christmas present for friends and family? Thanks!
